Leviticus 19:34 NLT
“Treat them like native-born Israelites, and love them as you love yourself. Remember that you were once foreigners living in the land of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.”
Everyone has a story to tell
Everyone has a story to share. Intriguingly, many people recollect unpalatable events rather than the good ones that transpired between them and others. In today’s referenced scripture, the Lord reminded the native-born that they were once strangers in Egypt. While in Egypt, the Israelites went through an unimaginable level of cruelty at the hands of the Egyptians. They were given a sour cup to drink from, and their hosts made life unbearable for them.
However, at the appointed time, God showed up and delivered them. Humanly speaking, what they went through cannot be forgotten in an instant, but God didn’t want them to use any iota of the measure of cruelty they experienced on foreigners living among them. Perhaps you were once in Egypt, but now God has delivered and brought you to the promised land. Endeavour not to visit the misdeeds of the people you come across or those who are foreigners in the land where you have an upper advantage.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I come to You in prayer, asking for Your guidance and strength. Please grant me wisdom and resilience so that I do not let any painful experiences from my past hinder my interactions with others. Help me approach each person with open-heartedness and compassion and always strive to build positive and uplifting relationships. I trust in Your unfailing love and grace, Lord Jesus. Amen.
