Leviticus 19:33 NLT
“Do not take advantage of foreigners who live among you in your land.”
Everyone matters!
Saying that God is loving is not a product of human imagination; it is the truth. God’s love is not exclusive to a select few but is intended for all. In John 3, verse 16, the Scripture states that God gave Jesus to the entire world, not just to the Jewish people. Furthermore, Jesus‘s love is for everyone. While living with us, Christ Jesus performed miracles for the Gentiles numerous times rather than limiting them to the Jewish community.
Had God not been loving, He could have used the referenced scripture to instruct people on how to treat strangers among them. Instead, the scripture instructed the people not to take advantage of the foreigners living among them, emphasizing that they should not treat them the way the Egyptians treated the Israelites.
It is important to remember that exploiting or making life difficult for anyone due to any perceived advantage is unjust. Even if it is known that if the roles were reversed, the stranger would act differently, it is crucial not to emulate such behaviour. You can only adhere to this instruction if Jesus lives in you. If you have not made Jesus the sole occupant of your heart consider doing it right now.
Prayer
Dear heavenly Father, I cannot be selfless unless I live in You. Please help me to live in You so that I will not give in or allow any form of gain to take the best of me. Help me, Lord Jesus. Amen.
