It’s important to remember that nothing escapes God’s knowledge. Yahweh, being all-knowing, was fully aware of everything that took place in Egypt during the time the people of Israel dwelled there, as well as the customs and practices in the land of Canaan before the arrival of the Israelites.

With this understanding, God cautioned the people of Israel against engaging in certain behaviours, such as sexual relations with close relatives. It’s worth noting that the Lord did not prohibit all forms of sexual relations but instead detested the unguided behaviours.

In essence, God’s instructions serve as a guide for living within the boundaries that He has set, with the understanding that following His guidance ultimately benefits us. Friends, God knows what lies ahead, and we will do well adhering to His warnings.

Prayer
Dear God, please guide me so that I will resist the temptation of sexual immorality. I want to honour Your Temple and seek Your strength. I pray this in Jesus’s name. Amen.
