Leviticus 16:23 NLT
“When Aaron goes back into the Tabernacle, he must take off the linen garments he was wearing when he entered the Most Holy Place, and he must leave the garments there.”
Go back into the Tabernacle
In today’s referenced scripture, we gain insight into the additional duties that Aaron is entrusted with on the sacred Day of Atonement. Aaron’s solemn journey commences at the Tabernacle, the central place of worship, and he must return to it as part of his sacred responsibilities. The deliberate use of “when” instead of “if” implies the obligatory nature of Aaron’s return to the Tabernacle, subtly emphasizing the importance of steadfastly maintaining our connection with God as the fundamental cornerstone of all our endeavours.
Another profound lesson emerges from Aaron’s need to remove his linen garments. These garments, symbolizing purity and righteousness, lose their symbolic significance through the intricate rituals of the Day of Atonement. This is a poignant reminder that our purity in Christ is assured as long as we conscientiously steer clear of activities and influences that could tarnish it. Furthermore, even if our purity becomes compromised, no human effort can alter its sanctified status.
Additionally, the scripture reveals that Aaron is instructed to leave his linen garments in the Most Holy Place, signifying a profound act of relinquishment and trust. Similarly, we are earnestly encouraged not to hesitate to leave our burdens, concerns, and inadequacies in God’s comforting and reassuring presence, acknowledging His sovereignty and grace in all aspects of our lives.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, l pour my innermost concern in Your presence. Please let none of them return with me. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
