Leviticus 16:11 NLT
“Aaron will present his own bull as a sin offering to purify himself and his family, making them right with the Lord. After he has slaughtered the bull as a sin offering,”
Make them right with the Lord
In the Old Testament, the Lord appointed Aaron to officiate in the Tabernacle, but the appointment didn’t confer purification on him or his family. Even though Aaron had a unique role, he was not considered unequalled. This is why Aaron and his household were required to perform purification exercises like the rest of the Israelites.
This is an important message because it reminds us that we are all equal in the eyes of our Creator, the I AM WHO I AM. No matter our role or status, we are all called to follow the same rules and work towards the same goal of being in communion with the Lord.
Another message is that the Lord expected Aaron to purify himself and his family. As the head of his household, Aaron was responsible for teaching and model purification to his family. This is a reminder to all of us that we, too, have a responsibility to teach and model the ways of the Lord to our families and those around us.
So, are you doing everything to ensure that your household is purified and made right with the Lord? As we follow Jesus’s grace, we can teach and model purification to our families and those around us, just as Aaron did for his household.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please help me be up and doing for the spiritual well-being of my household. I pray I will not forget to ensure that my life is right with You. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
