Numbers 3:42 NLT
“So Moses counted the firstborn sons of the people of Israel, just as the Lord had commanded.”
So Moses counted,
There is no doubt that every task carries the potential for unique performance, yet its execution may go unrecognized if it is not formally commissioned. Even when a task is commissioned, failing to adhere to established guidelines can result in a lack of appreciation. Today’s referenced scripture illustrates this point through the example of Moses. He took the divine instructions he received with utmost seriousness, thereby ensuring he counted only the firstborn sons of the Israelite people, as God had commanded.
Moses understood the weight of his responsibility and recognized that he was acting within the parameters set by divine authority. This obedience was not influenced by public opinion or the desire for human approval; instead, it was a sincere effort to fulfill the will of the Lord.
This brings us to two critical reflections: First, consider the types of instructions you naturally gravitate toward. Are they those inspired by divine guidance, rooted in spiritual truths, or are they motivated by worldly desires and personal ambition? Second, when you engage in performing these divine instructions, to whom do you ultimately aim to adhere? Is it in pursuit of pleasing God, who is the ultimate source of your calling, or are you swayed by the expectations and judgments of people around you? By examining these questions, we can gain insight into the true motivations behind our actions and the alignment of our efforts with divine purpose.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I humbly pray that I may never hesitate or delay in fulfilling Your divine will. Please guide my actions so that I carry out Your plans with sincerity and devotion, rather than seeking personal glory or recognition. Help me to remain focused on serving others and embodying the values You embody, ensuring that my intentions are pure and aligned with Your purpose. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
