Numbers 3:28 NLT
“There were 8,600 males one month old or older among these Kohathite clans. They were responsible for the care of the sanctuary,”
Leadership by example
Another important lesson from the referenced scripture focuses on the distribution of responsibilities among the Kohathites. This clan was entrusted with the sacred duty of serving, protecting, and upholding the sanctity of the sanctuary. This responsibility was not meant to rest solely on any single clan or individual descended from Amram, Izhar, Hebron, or Uzziel. Instead, it was a collective duty that required active participation from all members of the Kohathite clan.
Moses’ directives were inclusive and comprehensive, emphasizing that even he and his descendants were not exempt from these essential responsibilities. This aspect is particularly significant as it highlights the importance of solidarity and collaboration in fulfilling God’s commands. By positioning himself alongside the other Kohathites rather than elevating himself above them, Moses set a powerful example for future generations. He ensured that his descendants would recognize their obligation to work together with their fellow clan members.
Friends, what kind of precedents are you establishing for those who come after you? Are they examples that promote unity among your peers or ones that lead to discord and division? Take a moment to reflect on everything you do and consider how it may impact future generations.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I pray that my actions and words will not cause my descendants to become belligerent but will help them faithfully collaborate with others in carrying out any divine assignment for the glory of Your name always. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
