Numbers 3:8 NLT
“They will also maintain all the furnishings of the sacred tent, serving in the Tabernacle on behalf of all the Israelites.”
No cherry-picking
The service that God called the tribe of Levi to provide was holistic in nature. Every member was required to deliver this service consistently and reliably. Importantly, the Lord expected them to exercise wisdom while attending to all the details of the furnishings. Those furnishings that only need dusting should be dusted, while those that require washing with water should not be wiped down. The Lord further emphasizes that their care must cover every aspect of the Tabernacle’s furnishings, underscoring the comprehensive nature of their service.
It is essential to understand that the Lord does not want you to choose your assignments in His vineyard selectively; every task is significant and holds the same standard before Him. Additionally, they should view their work as a valued honour. Their service goes beyond personal interests and is conducted on behalf of the entire Israelite community. So, do not use the opportunities that God has given you to advance your own interests; instead, focus on how you can benefit everyone. Your calling is not for personal gain but for the collective growth of all.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please grant me the strength to stand in the gap for others, doing so with intention and always for Your glory. Please grant me the wisdom to maintain everything You have placed under my care properly. In Jesus’s name, I pray, Amen.
