Numbers 2:24 NLT
“All the men assigned to the camp of Ephraim, according to their divisions, number 108,100. They will set out third.”
They will set out third
While there is nothing inherently wrong with being the first to achieve something or to take initiative, it is essential to recognize that God has a unique timing for each of His followers. Understanding and accepting this divine timing can significantly reduce the pressure we place on ourselves and help us avoid unnecessary conflicts with others. A poignant example of this can be found in the life of John the Baptist. When his disciples came to him, excitedly sharing the news of the remarkable works performed by Jesus, John responded with noteworthy humility, stating that “He must become greater; I must become less” (John 3:30). This illustrates John’s profound understanding of his role within God’s plan and his willingness to embrace it without dispute or resentment.
In the scripture referenced, the Lord underscores the significance of the timing related to Ephraim’s journey. The instruction that the camp of Ephraim should set out third in the sequence reveals a divine order that necessitates patience and acceptance of one’s place in the grand scheme of things. This ordering signifies that Ephraim must allow those appointed to the first and second positions to proceed before them. Such a call for patience highlights the importance of waiting and recognizing that everyone has a designated time to fulfill their calling.
So, my friend, as you reflect on your journey, consider this: Are you patient in allowing God’s timing to unfold in your life?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for the position You have entrusted to me. I humbly ask for the strength to fulfill the responsibilities associated with this role faithfully and to bring You glory always. Please help me to avoid comparison and remain settled in the order You have set for me to perform my duties. In Jesus’s name, I pray. Amen.
