Numbers 1:7 NLT
“Tribe of Judah – Nahshon son of Amminadab”
Tribe of Judah
God does not call individuals based on human standards or societal expectations. His divine calling often seems perplexing, even to those He has chosen. Take, for example, Amminadab, whose name translates to “my people are noble.” Despite this noble connotation, he named his son Nahshon, a name linked to the Hebrew word for serpent or enchanter—symbolically complex and far from desirable.
However, God’s unwavering grace allows Him to see beyond a name’s dubious origins. Nahshon’s story illustrates that divine purpose transcends human judgment; God includes those whom the world might overlook or dismiss. When God chooses a vessel for His work, He meticulously cleanses it, transforming it from the inside out.
So, regardless of the negative associations or challenging beginnings tied to your name or identity, let us have faith that these do not determine your potential for progress. Always remember, as stated in Scripture, “if any man is in Christ, old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” Embrace the renewal that comes with faith, knowing that your past or any unremovable emblem does not define your future in God’s plan.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding me through Your word that my challenging background, whatever it may be, cannot undo Your calling over my life. In Jesus’s name, I pray, Amen.
