The hallmark of an exemplary leader
In this verse, God outlines the selection of leaders from each tribe of Israel, highlighting the significant roles they are to fulfill. These leaders are explicitly called to assist Moses, emphasizing that their purpose is not to replace or undermine his authority but to work collaboratively with him. This directive is significant considering that each chosen individual already holds a position of influence and command within their tribe.
The calling to assist Moses demands humility and selflessness, as true leadership often involves serving others rather than seeking personal gain. Each leader must recognize that their effectiveness hinges on their willingness to accept guidance and support the vision laid out by Moses.
A hallmark of an exemplary leader lies in their readiness to step back and follow when circumstances require it. Being a supportive team member is crucial, as it fosters unity and ensures that collective goals are achieved. Strive to assist in every possible capacity, acknowledging and embracing your responsibilities, for such actions contribute not only to your growth but to the success of the entire community.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please help me to keep my heart and mind focused on humility, reminding me that my role is a privilege meant to serve others and fulfill your purpose. May I not allow the responsibilities or recognition that come with this position to lead me away from my true values or inflate my ego. In Jesus’s name I pray, Amen.
