Numbers 1:3 NLT
“twenty years old or older who are able to go to war. You and Aaron must register the troops,”
Who are able
God, in His infinite wisdom, understands our capabilities and would never place upon us burdens greater than we can bear. As children of God, we are called to mirror this understanding in our interactions with others, supporting them according to their strengths and weaknesses.
The directive to count those eligible for military service, as outlined in the referenced scripture, originated from the Lord Himself. This signifies that Moses and Aaron were not acting on personal initiative but were carrying out a divine command. The Lord established clear guidelines for this census: first, every individual counted must be at least 20 years old, reflecting a threshold for maturity and responsibility. Second, only those deemed physically fit were to be included, emphasizing the importance of strength and capability in fulfilling their mission.
While this task may appear simple at first glance, it demanded great diligence and meticulous attention to detail from Moses and Aaron. They were tasked with not only understanding the instructions but also ensuring that they were carried out accurately. Furthermore, unity was essential; the collaboration between Moses and Aaron underscored the importance of teamwork in aligning with God’s will.
Thus, it is crucial for us as a community of believers to work together in unity in our spiritual endeavours and everyday lives. Through cooperation and mutual support, we can fulfill our collective purpose and achieve God’s desired outcomes.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I pray that I may handle every divine assignment with the necessary dexterity, so that all glory belongs to God. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
