Numbers 1:12 NLT
“Tribe of Dan – Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai”
People of the Almighty
While it is commonly understood that one individual does not translate into people, the father of Ammishaddai chose to name his son in a manner that transcended individual identity. The name he selected did not merely denote a singular person but instead embodied the collective essence of a people united under the Almighty. Although we lack specific details regarding the rationale behind this naming decision, we can surmise that it is a reminder for everyone who uttered this name, reinforcing their shared identity.
The people of Israel, encompassing not only the tribe of Dan, were inherently tied to the Almighty. This signified a covenant relationship that demanded not only recognition but also responsibility. This connection implies that their actions, both in public and private spheres, should reflect the character and values of God.
So, friends, are you part of the people of the Almighty? In what ways does your demeanour, both on and off camera, mirror the divine qualities we aspire to embody? Let us reflect on how our attitudes can either honour or undermine that identity as members of a community dedicated to living out the principles of our faith.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please help me remember that I am Yours; therefore, my character must always bring glory to You. In Jesus’s name, I pray. Amen.
