Numbers 1:10 NLT
“Manasseh son of Joseph – Gamaliel son of Pedahzur”
Walk by faith
All the people of Israel whom God rescued through Moses were born in Egypt, a land where they endured generations of slavery and oppression. Although the exact moment when their long-awaited freedom will arrive is unknown, their names reflect their unwavering hope that Yahweh will show up.
This is evident in the name Pedahzur, the father of Gamaliel; “Pedahzur” translates to “the rock has redeemed.” Among the people of Israel, “rock” is a metaphor for God, embodying strength, stability, and faithfulness. Even though the tangible experience of redemption had yet to manifest in their lives, Pedahzur’s father’s faith remained resolute, as he believed deeply that liberation was not just a future possibility but an assured reality in God’s plan.
Friends, believe that what you seek from God has already been set in motion. This requires having unwavering faith, even when our eyes cannot see the immediate evidence of our hopes. Remember, true faith transcends mere sight; it is rooted in the confidence of what we hope for and the assurance of what we do not yet see.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please help me walk by faith, not sight. In Jesus’s name, I pray. Amen.
