Leviticus 27:9 NLT
“If your vow involves giving an animal that is acceptable as an offering to the Lord, any gift to the Lord will be considered holy.”
How do you define what is acceptable?
Everyone expects that anything worth doing is worth doing well. No one appreciates a haphazard or half-hearted approach to any endeavour, as it often reflects a lack of dedication. Today’s referenced scripture emphasizes that God does not force or require anyone to include animal offerings as part of their vow of dedication. However, should someone choose to offer an animal, God will graciously accept it, but on one condition: the animal must meet specific criteria set by Him.
The key lesson here is that the standards of acceptability are determined by the Lord, not the individual making the offering. It doesn’t matter if the offering is big; it cannot be considered holy if it fails to align with divine stipulations. Conversely, even a small animal holds significant value if it passes the divine stipulation.
Therefore, friends, it is crucial to refrain from giving God what we presume to be right based on societal standards. Instead, let His definitions of acceptability and holiness guide your acts of giving and dedication. Strive to ensure that your contributions reflect a true commitment, one that honours the divine criteria rather than human expectations.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please help me consistently show commitment to what I offer You and guide me in understanding what is acceptable according to Your standards. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
