Leviticus 27:33 NLT
“You may not pick and choose between good and bad animals, and you may not substitute one for another. But if you do exchange one animal for another, then both the original animal and its substitute will be considered holy and cannot be bought back.”
God accepts all
As I reminisce about my childhood, I vividly recall the cherished tradition my parents upheld every New Year’s Day: serving a sumptuous feast to our neighbours. The aroma of spices would fill our home as they meticulously prepared various dishes, but the highlight was always the inclusion of the finest cuts of goat meat in each meal. My parents believed that this special occasion deserved nothing but the best, as they understood that our neighbours expected a celebratory treat.
Interestingly, today’s scripture offers a profound insight into the nature of divine acceptance. It reveals that the Lord accepts every tenth animal put forth by farmers, regardless of the animal’s perceived status or quality. Accepting every tenth animal as it is reminds us that all creatures come from Him and are part of His creation. Furthermore, it highlights that the Lord’s understanding of good and bad transcends human perceptions, suggesting that what we deem valuable or worthy might not align with divine judgment. Essentially, this scripture encourages a sense of integrity and humility in our offerings, reminding us to honour their inherent value.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for revealing through Your word that You accept everyone. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
