Leviticus 27:17 NLT
“If the field is dedicated to the Lord in the Year of Jubilee, then the entire assessment will apply.”
The Year of Jubilee
It’s important to understand that dedicating a field as part of a vow is not a requirement from God. This is why the referenced scripture states, “if the field is dedicated.” However, the I AM WHO I AM knows that the people of Israel may choose to offer such a dedication voluntarily. In this case, the Lord made it clear that any dedication made in this way is intended solely for Him. It is not to please any priests, as only God can fulfill your needs, not priests.
Additionally, the timing of this dedication is crucial in determining the field’s value. If a field is vowed in the year of Jubilee—a time of restoration and return—its entire value will be considered. This is because, during the Jubilee year, all land is returned to its original owner, highlighting the significance of understanding the implications of the vow within the context of divine law and timing. Friends, do not attempt to outsmart God with your vows.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, my vows cannot replace the complete work of salvation that the Only Begotten Son accomplished with His blood. I pray that my vows and the timing will bring glory to You. In Jesus’s name, I pray. Amen.
