Don’t break His covenant
Every believer understands that God is the covenant-keeping God, but not all may grasp the profound truth that the I AM WHO I AM desires those who enter into a covenant with Him to honour and uphold it diligently. Throughout Scripture, particularly in His communication with the people of Israel, the Lord explicitly details what actions and attitudes could render this sacred covenant null and void. He does not presume that they innately understand the implications of their behaviour; instead, He carefully outlines the conditions that could jeopardize their relationship with Him.

Interestingly, these stipulations lack monetary requirements, highlighting that obedience to God’s commands is accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial situation. This means honouring the covenant depends not on material wealth but on the willingness to engage wholeheartedly with the divine directives.

In essence, the Lord clarifies that outright rejection of His decrees—those principles and commandments that guide His followers—constitutes a breach of the covenant. Furthermore, approaching His regulations with indifference or ambivalence, signifying a state of being either lukewarm or apathetic, similarly means that the covenant could be considered effectively abandoned. Lastly, disregarding the Lord’s commands, whether in public view or the privacy of one’s thoughts, ultimately invalidates the covenant relationship.

It is crucial to emphasize that the Lord possesses a deep trust in the people of Israel to align themselves with His will, and He extends that same trust to you today. Therefore, it is vital to embrace His commands and instructions, as they are not burdensome but bring joy and enlightenment to the heart, as expressed in Psalm 19:8. By adhering to His guidelines, you nurture a vibrant and flourishing relationship with the covenant-keeping God.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I come before You with a humble heart, seeking Your guidance and wisdom. Please help me take Your instructions seriously and with the reverence they deserve. I pray for the strength and discernment to fully understand the significance of Your teachings in my life. Help me to remain steadfast in my commitment to You, recognizing the profound implications of any actions that might jeopardize our sacred relationship. In Jesus’s name, I pray. Amen.
