Leviticus 26:14 NLT
“However, if you do not listen to me or obey all these commands,”
‭‭
Choose well
Today’s referenced scripture reveals several profound insights for living a life aligned with divine principles. First, it emphasizes that disobedience is not predetermined for the people of Israel; the Lord explicitly uses “if” instead of “when,” signalling that each individual’s choice plays a critical role. This notion extends to our lives today, indicating that disobedience is not an unavoidable fate for you or me. The Lord does not establish a specific date or time when we will falter in obeying Him. Instead, He expresses disobedience arises when we turn away from His guidance.

Moreover, the scripture underscores a vital truth: achieving 99 percent compliance with His commands is equivalent to complete disobedience in the eyes of the Lord. While society may celebrate and reward a near-perfect performance—an “A*” grade in academic terms—this percentage of compliance is viewed as an “F” in spiritual terms because it indicates that not all commands have been fully obeyed. This is particularly significant given that the commands center around two fundamental principles outlined in Leviticus 26:1-2: the prohibitions against worshipping idols and the observance of the Sabbath days. If these commands were inherently impossible to follow, the Lord would not have required their observance.

This scripture also holds true for us; the Lord does not impose impossible burdens when He instructs us to carry our cross daily and follow Him. Instead, He calls us to a life of dedication and commitment that, albeit challenging at times, remains within our capacity to fulfill. By aligning our choices with these divine commands, we can cultivate a deeper connection with God and live out our faith more authentically.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I recognize that You do not place the temptation of disobedience before me. I ask for Your guidance and strength to resist the allure of straying from Your path. Please help me to remain in tune with Your voice so I may fully embrace and follow Your teachings in every aspect of my life. Fill my heart with the wisdom to discern right from wrong, enabling me to make choices that reflect my commitment to Your will. In Jesus’s name, I pray. Amen.
