Leviticus 26:12 NLT
“I will walk among you; I will be your God, and you will be my people.”
‭‭
I will walk among you
In the previous verse, God assured the people of Israel that He would dwell among them, underscoring the profound nature of His promise. As the omnipotent Creator, His words carry an unwavering authority; He would never utter a declaration that He lacks the intention to fulfill. In the scripture we’ve referenced today, the Lord makes it abundantly clear that His presence among the Israelites is not a passive arrangement. The self-existent I AM WHO I AM boldly declares His intention to walk among His people, emphasizing that He will actively engage with them rather than waiting for them to seek Him out.

This relational aspect of Jehovah is critical to understanding His character. He intimately knows the spiritual and emotional needs of the Israelites, who often become preoccupied with their pursuits, grappling with a sense of disconnection. Despite their struggles and the frequent lapses in their faith, God extends an unconditional invitation to be their God, offering a covenant relationship that requires no transactional exchange or prior merit from them.

The I AM WHO I AM yearns to be your God, desiring a personal connection with you as well, ready and willing to embrace you as His own. However, this divine invitation compels a response: Are you open to the transformative change in ownership that comes with accepting Him fully into your life?

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I am profoundly grateful for the incredible gift of Your desire to be my God and for the privilege of being called Your own. I recognize the depth of this relationship and the immense love that it represents. Please help me to always honor this magnanimous offer with the seriousness and reverence it deserves, ensuring that I live my life in a way that reflects my commitment to You and Your teachings. In Jesus’s name, I pray. Amen.
