Leviticus 25:46 NLT
“passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat them as slaves, but you must never treat your fellow Israelites this way.”

It is essential to recognize that the instructions outlined in the referenced scripture were given to Moses atop Mount Sinai (Leviticus 25:1). When Moses delivered them, he did so for the entire community of Israel, encompassing both native-born individuals and foreign inhabitants residing among them. This inclusive delivery method underscores a significant aspect of God’s character—His commitment to openness and transparency in communication.

By publicly proclaiming these commandments, God ensured that no individual could rightfully claim ignorance of the laws about their conduct, particularly regarding sensitive matters such as the sale of one’s children by a temporary resident. The gravity of this instruction was made clear, as it placed the onus of responsibility squarely on the shoulders of those who found themselves in such circumstances. If temporary residents ignore these guidelines, their descendants will be relegated to a status that shifts from one native-born family to another.

Conversely, for those who genuinely care about the welfare of their progeny and the legacy they leave behind, the situation presented by these commandments offers an opportunity for thoughtful decision-making. With awareness of the potential consequences in the scripture, a responsible individual would likely explore options that better protect their children’s future. Friends, are the options you are pursuing safeguarding your children’s future or making them vulnerable?

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I humbly pray that the choices I make today will not lead my future generations into difficult or dangerous circumstances. In every situation, please guide my decisions to ensure my actions foster a legacy of strength, wisdom, and stability for my posterity. In Jesus’s name, I pray. Amen.
