Leviticus 25:38 NLT
“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to give you the land of Canaan and to be your God.”
Don’t Be in Doubt
Rarely do parents explicitly remind their children that they are their fathers or mothers, but when they do, it is often to emphasize an important lesson. The referenced passage for today begins with a significant declaration from God to the people of Israel: “I am the Lord your God.” This statement carries profound importance in the context of the Israelites’ history. Having recently escaped the harsh bondage of slavery in Egypt, it is understandable that the people might have been plagued by doubts regarding the source of their freedom. The Lord reminded them that His mighty hand delivered them, making it clear that no other deity could take credit for their liberation.
This reaffirmation is not just a historical reference but a timeless reminder for all of us. The Lord urges you to recognize that your liberation from the law of sin and death is not the result of your efforts or merits but rather a gift that comes solely through Him. It’s essential to grasp the significance of “I am the Lord your God” as a declaration of the Lord’s eternal presence and unwavering commitment to His people.
Do you see the connection? The God who orchestrated past victories in Israel’s history is the same God who works actively in your life today and will continue to do so. He invites you to have faith in His promises, reminding you not to doubt His ability to guide you through your current challenges and the victories that lie ahead. Embrace this assurance and let it strengthen your trust in His divine plan.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please help me remember that You are my God, who granted me freedom through the finished work of salvation that Jesus completed on the cross at Calvary. Amen.
