Leviticus 25:1-2 NLT
“While Moses was on Mount Sinai, the Lord said to him, “Give the following instructions to the people of Israel. When you have entered the land I am giving you, the land itself must observe a Sabbath rest before the Lord every seventh year.”
The Lord gives
In the verses above, we see a reiteration of God’s gift to the Israelites: the land flowing with milk and honey, known as the Promised Land. The phrase “the land I am giving you” leaves a significant impression, emphasizing that every good gift comes from the Lord. It is also important to note that, as stated in Psalm 127:1, “Except the Lord builds a house, they labor in vain who build it; except the Lord keeps the city, the watchman wakes but in vain.” If the Lord had not given this land to the Israelites, they would not have known where it was or been able to acquire it.
It would have been impossible for the Israelites to drive out the original inhabitants of the Promised Land on their own. Had they attempted to wage war against these people, they would likely have failed. After generations under Pharaoh’s rule, the Israelites lacked a mighty army and the resolve to fight for their own freedom from Egypt. As promised to Abraham, the Lord chose this land and GAVE it to them. This illustrates that God’s plans for each individual are uniquely designed, and He is a good Father who bestows good gifts.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I humbly ask for Your guidance in helping me to recognize that every blessing in my life is a precious gift from You. May I understand that each gift comes with its own time of revelation, unfolding according to Your perfect will. Teach me the virtue of patience, allowing me to wait patiently for Your timing. Instill in me a spirit of gratitude so that I may always find contentment in the blessings You bestow upon me, no matter how small they may seem. I pray for this understanding and wisdom in the name of Jesus, amen.
