Leviticus 23:38 NLT
“These festivals must be observed in addition to the Lord’s regular Sabbath days, and the offerings are in addition to your personal gifts, the offerings you give to fulfill your vows, and the voluntary offerings you present to the Lord.)”
Attend to all instructions
God is omniscient, and He demonstrated the truth through the directives provided to the people of Israel. The I AM WHO I AM instructed Moses to relay a crucial message to His chosen people: they were to observe the appointed festivals with unwavering commitment and enthusiasm. The word “must” underscores the gravity of this command, suggesting that attending these festivals is not merely encouraged but an absolute requirement.
The people of Israel need to understand that the observance of the Sabbath should never be viewed as a substitute for these sacred festivals. Each festival holds its unique significance, and their offerings are vital to their covenantal relationship with God. Additionally, the Lord made it abundantly clear that the offerings presented during these festivals should be comprehensive and generous. The people should not hold back in their contributions, for each offering is a testament to their devotion and gratitude to the Lord.
Moreover, while the offerings are to be given to Aaron and his descendants, the priests of Israel, the people must not perceive these acts as merely helping or supporting the priests. Instead, they should recognize these offerings as a sacred act of worship dedicated to God Himself. This understanding fosters a deeper connection between the worshippers and the Divine, emphasizing that these ceremonies and sacrifices express their loyalty, reverence, and love for the Lord. Thus, every aspect of these festivals—be it the observance of the Sabbath or the act of giving—Serves to enrich their spiritual journey and fortify their identity as a chosen people.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I pray that I may fully recognize the importance of adhering to Your instructions and not overlook any of the wisdom You provide. Help me to understand that following Your guidance is not only a part of my faith but ultimately serves my best interest and leads me toward a life of peace and fulfillment. In Jesus’s name, I pray. Amen.
