Leviticus 23:22 NLT
“When you harvest the crops of your land, do not harvest the grain along the edges of your fields, and do not pick up what the harvesters drop. Leave it for the poor and the foreigners living among you. I am the Lord your God.”
A time to harvest
The “when” in the referenced scripture indicates that a specific time is set for something to happen. The Lord promised that the people of Israel, particularly the farmers, would not labour in vain. He assured them that they would reap the rewards of their work. Notably, the Lord said they would experience this harvest during their lifetime, using the word “you” to emphasize this promise.
Friends, whatever you have worked for, God will enable you to reap the rewards in the land of the living. Additionally, the harvest mentioned is not limited to a specific crop; it applies to all their produce. This is a source of joy because it signifies that their efforts will not be in vain, regardless of how long it may take for the harvest to become ripe.
Lastly, the Lord instructed them to expect a harvest on their land. What does this imply? It means a harvest is guaranteed on one’s land, so there is no need to envy someone else’s field. Your land can be just as productive as your neighbour’s. Therefore, focus on your land—your marriage, relationships, children, spouse, ministry, and so on—and tend to it. You will be surprised at the abundant harvest you can achieve.
Prayer
Heavenly Lord, I come before You with a heart full of gratitude for the abundant promise of harvest that springs forth from all my dedicated efforts. I ask for Your divine grace to continually enjoy the fruits of my labour without any interruptions. Please bless me with peace in my heart, a long life to savour each moment, and good health so I can thrive in all aspects of my life. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
