Leviticus 23:20 NLT
“The priest will lift up the two lambs as a special offering to the Lord, together with the loaves representing the first of your crops. These offerings, which are holy to the Lord, belong to the priests.”
Devotion to the Lord unlocks divine provision
Today’s referenced scripture provides several profound insights for living a life aligned with divine principles. First, it highlights the significant responsibility entrusted to the priest when it comes to acknowledging God in every sacrifice made. The priest was tasked with the sacred role of lifting the sacrifice, a physically demanding act that required strength and dedication, as the weight of the sacrificial animals could be substantial. As we consider ourselves ministers under the messianic covenant, we should reflect on whether we actively lift our praises to the Lord regardless of the weight or challenges of life.
Another key insight from this scripture is that the act of sacrifice itself was deemed holy to the Lord—not because of any grandeur or extraordinary nature of the offerings but due to the simple obedience of the priest. The Lord’s instructions were clear: He asked the priest to lift both two one-year-old lambs and the corresponding loaves before Him. This seemingly straightforward act carried immense significance; without this expression of dedication, everything else could have easily become futile or wasted. We need to recognize the importance of every instruction we receive, even when its value is hard to comprehend or seems minimal. Such acts of obedience often hold greater significance than we realize.
Lastly, the scripture asserts a profound truth regarding the relationship between offerings and holiness. While the two one-year-old lambs and the items presented were considered holy to the Lord, they ultimately did not belong to Him in the conventional sense. This point is emphasized in the Lord’s words, which clarified that these offerings were not for Moses or designated solely for Aaron. Instead, they were meant for the priests as a whole. This understanding reveals a vital principle: when we are diligent in our service to the Lord, He ensures our well-being—not simply providing us with sustenance but blessing us with the best that is considered holy in His eyes. The commitment to the Lord comes with divine provision, reflecting His faithfulness to those who serve Him earnestly.
