Leviticus 23:19 NLT
“Then you must offer one male goat as a sin offering and two one-year-old male lambs as a peace offering.”
Walk the talk
Today’s referenced scripture reveals that God prioritizes the interest of the priest and the entire household of Israel through His instruction. Notice that God didn’t obligate each family to present a male goat as a sin offering and two male lambs—each one year old—as a peace offering. Instead, He commands that the entire house of Israel collectively provide a single one-year-old male goat for a sin offering and a single one-year-old lamb for a peace offering.
It is essential to recognize the significance of this instruction. If every individual or family were tasked with providing these animals, sacrificing them would not only exhaust the priests but also diminish the joy that should accompany these sacrifices, turning a sacred practice into a burdensome obligation.
The requirement that these offerings be communal rather than individual indicates God’s more profound character. It reveals that God has always sought to alleviate people’s burden, providing them rest from their burdens. The stipulation of only needing a one-year-old goat and a one-year-old lamb for sin and peace offerings reflects the nature of a God who is not a demanding or capricious deity.
So, my friends, do you truly understand the essence of the I AM WHO I AM? His characters have always been the same. Among His many attributes, the referenced scripture reveals that God is not selfish or bloodthirsty, nor does He impose undue burdens on those who come to worship Him. Instead, He embodies grace, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to His people’s well-being, consistently demonstrating a desire to lighten their loads rather than increase them.
