Putting them into practice
In George Orwell’s satirical novel Animal Farm, the central theme is that all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others. This suggests that obedience to established rules is unevenly applied, favouring certain individuals over others. Interestingly, this observation parallels the human societal structures we are familiar with, where hierarchy often dictates who is held accountable and who is granted leniency. However, this inequitable dynamic sharply contrasts with God’s divine principles.
In today’s scripture, the Lord underscores a crucial point: the directive regarding the thanksgiving offering is not intended solely for a select few to observe; instead, it is a call for participation from all members of the community, including Moses and the custodians of the Tabernacle, Aaron and his sons. Furthermore, the Lord stresses that no Israelite should observe these instructions with carelessness or half-heartedness; instead, they should be observed with sincerity and commitment. This insistence on wholehearted participation signals that giving thanks should stem from genuine devotion and an earnest heart.
Ultimately, our faithfulness to God is not merely gauged by the extent of our knowledge or understanding of scripture and doctrine. More importantly, it hinges upon our willingness to live out the truth and embody its principles daily, irrespective of popular opinions or potential backlash. We are called to put God’s words into practice not when we feel like observing them but always.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I pray I can fully embrace and wholeheartedly commit to the path You have outlined for my life. Grant me the strength and clarity to follow Your instructions, even when the journey feels challenging. May my actions reflect my devotion to You in all that I do. In Jesus’s name, I pray. Amen.
