Leviticus: 22:25 NLT
“and you must not accept such an animal from foreigners and then offer it as a sacrifice to your God. Such animals will not be accepted on your behalf, for they are mutilated or defective.”

Upholding God’s standard
As a child of God, you are His ambassador or representative in this world. However, it’s essential to ask yourself: Are you representing Him well? When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, He instructed them to seek that God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven. This means we must embrace the values of God’s kingdom. One such value is highlighted in the scripture above, where the Lord charged each member of the house of Israel to act as His ambassador. As His representatives, they were called to uphold His standards and reject anything that contradicted His nature and will, particularly when offering sacrifices.

The Israelites had a specific responsibility: they were not to accept any defective animals from foreign sources as sacrifices to the Lord. This requirement illustrated their commitment to purity and excellence in worship. Every offering had to be of the highest quality, reflecting their reverence for God. Similarly, we are entrusted with the responsibility to discern and reject norms, practices, and beliefs that oppose what God has clearly outlined for us in His teachings. Just as the Israelites were called to maintain their integrity, we, too, must strive to align our lives with God’s expectations, ensuring that we represent Him faithfully and honourably in our daily conduct.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I pray that I may always uphold the values of Your Kingdom in my thoughts, words, and actions. I ask that You grant me the wisdom to discern any temptations that might lead me to compromise Your standards, no matter how subtle or enticing they seem. I pray for these things in the name of Jesus, amen.
