Leviticus: 22:21 NLT
“If you present a peace offering to the Lord from the herd or the flock, whether it is to fulfill a vow or is a voluntary offering, you must offer a perfect animal. It may have no defect of any kind.”
The Lord’s requirement
God has always been good to us. This is exemplified in the experiences of the people of Israel on multiple occasions. One notable instance is found in the referenced scripture. It is important to note that the Lord used the word “if” rather than “when,” indicating that presenting a peace offering is not mandatory. If someone is unable to offer it, they should not feel unworthy or believe that the peace of God will not be with them. On the other hand, if a person chooses to make a peace offering, they must follow the specific instructions to ensure that their effort does not end up as an exercise in futility.
For those who decide to offer something to the Lord, it is required that the animal be without defect. This means that the offeror should thoroughly examine the animal to ensure it meets the Lord’s standards before presenting it to the priest. What, then, is the implication? If you choose to offer anything to the Lord—your talent, time, or expertise—make sure it is the best you can give. If you have committed to serving in any capacity within a fellowship, offer your best service to the Lord.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I seek the strength and wisdom to always offer You my best in all I do. In every action and thought, may I reflect Your goodness and strive to serve You faithfully. I ask all of this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
