Leviticus 21:24 NLT
“So Moses gave these instructions to Aaron and his sons and to all the Israelites.”
Information symmetry
In the discharge of his duty, Moses meticulously ensured that the divine instructions he received were not limited to just Aaron and his sons but were communicated to the entire Israel community, including natives and foreigners. By delivering these crucial instructions openly, Moses ensured transparency and collective understanding. This approach was significant because it meant he did not confide in Aaron and his sons secretively; instead, he spoke in a public setting where everyone could hear. This raises an important question: Why would Moses choose to address all of Israel with the instructions, especially when the Lord commanded him in Leviticus 21:2 to direct those messages to Aaron and his sons?
Interestingly, Moses adhered to the spirit of God’s law without breaching it. The directive given to him did not explicitly state that the instructions were to be confidential. By presenting the messages before the entire community, Moses aimed to preempt any potential discord that might arise among those unaware of these divine guidelines. Notably, it would alleviate any possible resentment or tension among the Israelites, especially concerning the participation of non-disabled descendants of Aaron alongside their disabled counterparts. Transparency in communication can foster unity and prevent divisions based on misunderstandings.
Now, consider this: Are you embodying the role of Moses in your own life, faithfully executing the instructions you believe have been given to you by the Lord? Do you prioritize what brings you personal satisfaction, or do you strive to follow what truly pleases God? Furthermore, when you receive divine messages, do you share them fully and faithfully or hold back, diluting the original intent? Are you committed to conveying the truths you receive as they are, with the same straightforwardness that characterized Moses’ approach?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, Please grant me the courage to communicate Your truth authentically and without hesitation. Help me stay true to Your message, resisting any temptation to water it down or alter it for comfort or acceptance. I ask for this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
