Leviticus 20:24 NLT
“But I have promised you, ‘You will possess their land because I will give it to you as your possession—a land flowing with milk and honey.’ I am the Lord your God, who has set you apart from all other people.”
I have promised you
During my upbringing, my family faced an unexpected crisis that made our financial situation challenging. Coincidentally, during that difficult time, a trend known as “Promise is a Debt” became popular. The concept involved writing down your desires on paper and asking others to sign up for what they could provide. I participated in this, but unfortunately, none of the individuals who signed up fulfilled their promises.
On the contrary, God is unlike people who fail to keep their promises. He is capable of making and fulfilling promises. No one needs to pressure Him to make promises because He is faithful and true to His word. The first five words in today’s referenced scripture hold great significance for the people of Israel, and it is a message that God wants us to internalize as well. We should not doubt whatever the Lord has promised, regardless of the circumstances around us. God’s actions are not contingent on whether our environment cooperates. It’s important to remember that He didn’t wait for King Herod to pass away before sending His only Begotten Son into the world.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, the situations surrounding me often lead to panic and doubt, making me feel like help will never come or that it will be too late when it does. However, I hold on to Your word, knowing that You are faithful and will not go back on Your promises. In Jesus’s name, amen.
