Leviticus 20:22 NLT
You must keep all my decrees and regulations by putting them into practice; otherwise, the land to which I am bringing you as your new home will vomit you out.
Putting them into practice
The referenced scripture implies that God has specific instructions for every season. Before the people of Israel reached the promised land, God specifically mentioned the do’s and do n’ts that would enable them to live fulfilling and satisfying lives there. He emphasized that they should not only know these decrees but also practice and obey them.
It’s important to note that the promised land isn’t a lawless environment or a location where one can do as one wishes. Apart from doing what pleases the Lord, we must be sensitive to understand what the Lord requires of us at specific times.
We should remember that the instruction was for the future when God eventually brought them to their destination. We must not lose sight of God when He eventually settles us. Failure to do so could result in being expelled from the promised land. This implies that what God has blessed us must be handled with care. We should not overlook the need for reverence, even when we receive what we have prayed for.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I pray that I will not just memorize Your instructions but will put them into practice at all times. So, help me, Lord Jesus, Amen.
