Leviticus 20:18 NLT
“If a man has sexual relations with a woman during her menstrual period, both of them must be cut off from the community, for together they have exposed the source of her blood flow.”
Exercise self-control
Like the previous verse, the instruction in today’s referenced scripture has one initiator: man. Therefore, if a man shuts it down, such an endeavour will not happen, let alone fester. However, if he chooses to do otherwise, there are consequences. The Lord desires that every man exercise self-control.
Another notable aspect is that the Lord didn’t say husbands are free to engage in the endeavour. Instead, the Lord said if a man, and without mincing words, it encompasses all males, whether native-born or foreigners, living among the people of Israel. Also, the priests and Levites were not excluded. Even Moses, whom the Lord instructed to pass on to the people of Israel, was not excluded.
Friends, the instruction didn’t exclude any male, and we can infer that nothing gives any man the right to act in any that contradicts God’s will. Likewise, being a member of the body of Christ is not a license to behave without any recourse. Lastly, the Lord stated the reason for the punishment. It is worth noting that the Lord didn’t derive any benefit in the death of any sinner. Therefore, the severity of the sentence was to serve as a deterrent.

Heavenly Father, I pray I will not delight in anything that displeases in all my endeavours. In Jesus’s name, amen.
