“Your scales and weights must be accurate. Your containers for measuring dry materials or liquids must be accurate. I am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt.”

Keep yourself in check
The phrase “we are a product of our environment” is frequently heard, suggesting that our surroundings shape who we are. However, it’s crucial to recognize that the actions of the individuals within it influence our environment. Everyone must actively contribute to creating a positive community, whether the community is a church, school, or neighbourhood.

God emphasized the importance of ensuring the accuracy of their scales and weights to the people of Israel and, by extension, you and me. Such behaviour would rub off on the community and make it an excellent place for everyone to live. Likewise, we are responsible for doing the right thing so that our community, whatever it is, can be conducive to everyone.

Intriguingly, the Lord did not appoint a task force to enforce compliance with this directive. Instead, individuals were entrusted with the responsibility of choosing what was right. Friends, the Lord desires truth in our innermost being, including honesty in our actions. No form of dishonesty gives true riches and peace of mind. However, whoever aligns with God will experience His blessings, and no sorrow will be added (Proverbs 10:22).

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I ask that You guide me always to know that I am responsible for the outlook of my community. Please help me to be the change I want to see in my community. Help me, Lord Jesus. Amen.
