Leviticus 19:35 NLT
“Do not use dishonest standards when measuring length, weight, or volume.”
You can do it!
Today’s referenced scripture suggests that the people of Israel knew about dishonest standards. Interestingly, God was equally aware of the antics. Friends, there are no antics of which God is not aware. When God says, “Do not use,” He is essentially cautioning us against giving in to something even though we have the power to do so.
Unlike the previous instruction that focused on the native-born, the instruction in today’s referenced scripture was for both foreign and native-born. So, why is it crucial to do what is right? The answer is that it is for our good, as the Bible states that a person reaps what they sow. Remember, the planted seed and harvest ratio is never one-to-one. The extent of the harvest remains unknown, but we know that sowing corruption yields corruption. Let us eschew every compromising standard and accept standards that glorify God. Remember godliness with contentment is a great gain.
