Leviticus 19:34 NLT
“Treat them like native-born Israelites, and love them as you love yourself. Remember that you were once foreigners living in the land of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.”
Treat them like native-born
When God created us, He gave us the ability to treat one another kindly. However, when man fell, this innate capacity changed. If it had remained intact, there would not have been any need for reminders. Unfortunately, instead of being kind, humans see nothing wrong with treating each other poorly.
In the referenced scripture, the Lord instructed the native-born Israelites to ensure their attitude toward the foreigners living among them was not divided. The Lord instructed that the native-born must love the foreigners as they love themselves. It’s important to note that the Lord didn’t tell the native-born to like the foreigners but to love them as they love themselves, for love supersedes likeness.
As a child of God, you must display God’s love not only to fellow believers but also to those who still have a distant relationship with God. No one can evangelize the world unless the world sees Jesus through you.
Prayer
Dear heavenly Father, I pray that I will always display Your love toward all. Help me, Lord Jesus. Amen.
