Leviticus 19:23 NLT
“When you enter the land and plant fruit trees, leave the fruit unharvested for the first three years and consider it forbidden. Do not eat it.”
For the first three years
Walking with the Lord involves aligning every aspect of our lives with His precepts. It’s essential to recognize that while His instructions may seem unconventional. They are not only achievable but also incredibly rewarding. Therefore, it is ones interest to always abide by them even when they are counterintuitive.
For instance, consider the command to refrain from harvesting fruit from newly planted trees for the first three years. This instruction requires a deep trust in the Lord. The prospect of not reaping the fruits of your labour for such a long period may raise concerns about survival. However, it’s essential to remember that obedience to God is paramount, and trusting in His provision is vital.
Notably, this directive applied to all tribes of Israel and wasn’t designed to benefit any specific group, including the priests or Levites. Obedience, rather than personal gain, was the focus of this instruction.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, please help me always to trust You, even when the instructions are counterintuitive. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
