Leviticus 19:23 NLT
“When you enter the land and plant fruit trees, leave the fruit unharvested for the first three years and consider it forbidden. Do not eat it.”
Plant fruit trees
In our last lesson, we delved into the significance of God’s promises and the undeniable certainty of their fulfillment. The word “when” underscores God’s unwavering commitment to bringing what He has vowed to fruition, particularly in guiding the people of Israel into the land He promised them.
Today, our focus shifts to the duties the Lord entrusted to the Israelites once they arrived in the promised land. Above all, He required them to be diligent, as emphasized by His directive to “plant.” They were not to be passive or inactive occupants of the land.
So, do not succumb to idleness when the Lord leads you to your promised land. Like the Israelites, you and I must strive to work earnestly on the land. It’s essential to remember that the act of planting fruit trees symbolizes the pursuit of long-term objectives without anticipating immediate rewards.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, please help me not be idle or seek instant gratification when You bring me to the promised land. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
