Leviticus 19:15 NLT
“Do not twist justice in legal matters by favouring the poor or being partial to the rich and powerful. Always judge people fairly.”
Fairness to all and sundry
In everyday human interactions, it is inevitable that people will sometimes transgress against one another. While some transgressions may be resolved without needing a third party, others might require a judge to intervene and resolve the matter. According to the referenced scripture, it is noted that the Lord instructs the adjudicator to remain impartial, regardless of the social or economic status of the parties involved. Our belief in God as the Righteous Judge encourages us to emulate His fairness in delivering judgments. We must avoid favouring the wealthy simply due to their status, especially when evidence points to their guilt. Therefore, we must resist sympathizing with those experiencing poverty if they are at fault. God has blessed us with the wisdom and knowledge to make sound judgments in our daily affairs. By utilizing these gifts to judge fairly, we can expect to reap positive outcomes. Conversely, failing to do so may lead to negative consequences.
