Leviticus 19:11 NLT
“Do not steal. “Do not deceive or cheat one another.”
We can do it
Some endeavours cause disunity among people. But as children of God, He does not want anyone to get involved in them. One such is stealing. Taking possession of what does not belong to you is stealing, and the Lord instructed the people of Israel and, by extension, you and me not to dabble in it.
Regardless of our life situations, stealing is wrong. God does not condone it for anyone because it has negative consequences not only for the victims who suffer financial losses but also for the mental well-being of both the thieves and the victims. It creates a climate of distrust within communities and can impede social interactions.
The second is the command not to engage in deceptive practices. The Lord prohibits deceitful behaviour, such as misrepresenting the truth or acting dishonestly in contractual agreements. It emphasizes the importance of maintaining integrity and honesty in all interactions, urging individuals to refrain from manipulating others for personal gain.
Overall, the passage underscores the significance of respecting the possessions and rights of others, refraining from dishonesty, and conducting oneself with integrity in all dealings. It encourages individuals to approach their desires with respect for others, advocating for honest and fair conduct in all aspects of life. Friends, God believes we can do it. Let’s not disappoint Him.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I pray that I will not steal, deceive, or cheat anyone, regardless of my circumstances. So, help me, Lord Jesus. Amen.
