Leviticus 18:27 NLT
“All these detestable activities are practiced by the people of the land where I am taking you, and this is how the land has become defiled.”

God knows everything
When driving, I’m always careful around areas with speed cameras. But as soon as I pass those areas, my level of carefulness reduces because I feel like no one is watching me.

The scripture referenced today reveals that nothing happened in the land that God did not see. Even though no physical CCTV cameras were installed anywhere in the land, the Lord knew all their atrocities because He does not sleep or slumber. Another issue centers on what was obtainable in the land. When the Lord warned the people of Israel not to follow in the footsteps of the occupants of the land, the latter were still deeply involved in detestable acts. This was evident in the tense structure the Lord used to depict the situation.

Lastly, the Lord reveals through this verse that whatever we do has an impact beyond us. For instance, the activities of the occupants of the land affected the land. The scripture says that the detestable acts defiled the land. It’s important to note that the land was defiled not by an evil spirit but by unguarded human desires.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I pray that I will not engage in endeavours that will cause the land you have given me to be defiled. Please help me, Lord. I ask this in Jesus’s name. Amen.
