Leviticus 18:20 NLT
“Do not defile yourself by having sexual intercourse with your neighbor’s wife.
Do not defile yourself
As I reflected on the above passage, two significant issues stood out. Firstly, it emphasized the importance of avoiding self-inflicted harm. The passage clearly states that a man who sleeps with his neighbour’s wife defiles himself, highlighting the negative consequences of engaging in such immoral behaviour. Therefore, refraining from such actions serves to protect oneself. Additionally, the passage prompted me to consider who my neighbour is. It emphasized that my neighbour encompasses anyone, regardless of whether they have embraced the teachings of Christ.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I pray that I will not, through uncouth behaviour, remove the honour You endowed on my life. I ask for the strength to love my neighbour as myself always. I ask these in Jesus’s name. Amen.
