Leviticus 18:17 NLT
“Do not have sexual relations with both a woman and her daughter. And do not take her granddaughter, whether her son’s daughter or her daughter’s daughter, and have sexual relations with her. They are close relatives, and this would be a wicked act.”
Steer clear of any wicked act
A while ago, there was a news report about a driver caught speeding. You might be wondering why it made the news. Perhaps you think the journalist who wrote it used the report to cover a lack of essential things to report because who can honestly say they have never sped beyond the posted speed limit, even if it is 1 km/h or one mp/h? However, the situation was extraordinary because a police speed camera caught the driver doing 195 km/h in a construction zone where the posted speed limit was 60 km/h. Like every cited speeding event, the driver was issued a citation and other stringent driving conditions.
Up until now, the harsh divine reaction to unnatural sexual relations is that “it violates the doer or the other person.” However, when it comes to the sexual relation that the Lord forbids in the referenced scripture, it is captioned as a wicked act. So, why did the Lord warn the people of Israel, particularly boys and men, to steer clear? The reason is that since He did not bless the previous occupants of the land for engaging in it, He would not do less should the boys and men of Israel follow the same pattern. Friends, there is only one route to receiving the Lord’s blessings: attending to matters in ways that glorify Him; anything short of it is an act of wickedness.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please help me steer clear of all acts of wickedness whether or not I am being watched. This I ask in Jesus’s name. Amen.
