An off-limit relationship
The entire Leviticus 18 provides clear guidance on sexual conduct, highlighting the importance of understanding the reasons behind these guidelines. It’s interesting to note that each verse contains a specific explanation of why certain sexual relations are prohibited. This suggests that the ancient Egyptian culture may have treated women as interchangeable, leading to confusion about who it was appropriate to have relations with. However, the reasons provided by God serve to dispel any confusion and make it clear that certain relations are off-limits. For instance, the scripture points out that the woman involved is a close relative of one’s father, leaving no room for ambiguity. Our God doesn’t leave us in the dark; instead, He provides clear guidance and reasons, but it’s up to us to internalize and follow them.

Prayer
Dear God, I pray that I will not rationalize any divine reasons put in place not to engage in any unholy endeavours. In Jesus’s name, I pray, Amen.
