Leviticus 18:2 NLT
“Give the following instructions to the people of Israel. I am the Lord your God.”
I am the Lord your God
It is essential to understand why the Lord chose Moses as His mouthpiece. It was not due to a lack of eloquent men or women who could carry out the task. It was probably down to the issue of reliability. The Lord did not choose Aaron or the Levites but Moses to deliver the message because He possessed the character needed for the assignment.
Speaking about the message, the Lord reminded them about the relationship between Him and the people of Israel. He said, “I am the Lord your God.” Such a message could not been necessary if not that the people of Israel had in their closets been fantasizing about another god or sacrificing to idols. Remember that the Lord warned them to stop offering sacrifices to the goat idols (Leviticus 17:7).
The Lord used the message as a clarion call. He wanted them to stop being unfaithful and remember that He remains their God. Friends, are you faithful to the Lord? Are your hearts not wandering? Through this message, the Lord reminds you to get your relationship back on track with Him.
