Leviticus 17:7 NLT
“The people must no longer be unfaithful to the Lord by offering sacrifices to the goat idols. This is a permanent law for them, to be observed from generation to generation.”
To whom?
Recently, a lyric by Kirk Franklin received criticism on social media because he sang that the lion and the lamb would bow down for the goat. What Kirk sang was reminiscent of the people of Israel when they offered their sacrifices to goat idols instead of God.
Interestingly, the people who claimed they would follow everything the Lord commanded went behind closed doors to do the opposite (Exodus 19:8). Instead of holding God in high reverence, they gave to the goat idols what belonged to Him. The question is: are we not guilty of the same wrongdoing?
Friends, God, who brought you out of the dungeon, is worthy of praise because He will take care of present and future situations. Therefore, don’t give His glory to any graven image. You would not like it when your credit is awarded to another person. You would say it is unfair. Therefore, don’t be unfair to your God.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I ask for Your forgiveness for not giving You what rightfully belongs to You. In Jesus’s name, I pray. Amen.
