Leviticus 17:7 NLT
“The people must no longer be unfaithful to the Lord by offering sacrifices to the goat idols. This is a permanent law for them, to be observed from generation to generation.”
Even in the wilderness
God’s lovingkindness is unparalleled, and it is from generation to generation. Even though God has the power to penalize any wrongdoing, today’s referenced scripture reveals that sometimes He chooses to overlook them.
Today’s referenced scripture reveals that a behaviour was rampant among the people of Israel as they traversed the wilderness. They were unfaithful to the I AM WHO I AM. They constantly rendered sacrifices to the goat idols. Perhaps they did it secretly; otherwise, Moses would have cautioned them. Yet the all-knowing God brought their secret deeds into the open (Luke 12:2-3).
Friends, what are you doing in the secret? No one might see or know it, but the One who never sleeps nor slumbers sees everything. Remember that both day and night are the same before God. Like the Lord implored the people to be no longer unfaithful, the same plea goes to you and me to stop every form of unfaithfulness to the Lord.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that I will not hinder anyone in their service to You. I also pray that the Holy Spirit will guide me so that I will only “sacrifice my praise” on Your altar. Please help me, Lord. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
