Leviticus 17:5 NLT
“The purpose of this rule is to stop the Israelites from sacrificing animals in the open fields. It will ensure that they bring their sacrifices to the priest at the entrance of the Tabernacle, so he can present them to the Lord as peace offerings.”

Stop it
It’s important to understand that every word spoken by God has a purpose. However, we need the guidance of the Holy Spirit to comprehend its relevance to our lives. For example, when the Lord says “stop,” it indicates that certain activities or behaviours should be discontinued. One such example is the practice of the people of Israel performing sacrifices in the open fields. These sacrifices were not to idols but lacked structure. Yet, the Lord did not punish them for it, possibly because He had not given them specific instructions forbidding it. Friends, it is one thing to do what the Lord wants, and it is another to do it according to His instructions. Friends, worshipping God is essential, and you and I should do it, but worshipping Him in the beauty of His holiness should be our goal. It is worth noting that just as sacrifices that did not pass through the priest were meaningless in the old covenant, any attempt to reach God outside of Jesus is also futile.

Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that I will not do anything that You do not desire, and more importantly, I want to perform endeavours that You desire accordingly. In Jesus’s name, I pray. Amen.
