Leviticus 17:16 NLT
“But if they do not wash their clothes and bathe themselves, they will be punished for their sin.”
Don’t rebel
God sees all and knows what everyone does, whether in private or in public. If anyone errs, God expects such a person to own up and follow steps for reconciliation and restoration. It is one’s right to make right any wrongs they have committed. Without God’s help, no priest can tell who has frolicked on their own. It is the job of the Holy Spirit to convict us, and when He does, how we respond is our prerogative. In the cited scripture, God asserted that punishment awaited anyone, whether native or foreigner, who failed to rectify their wrongdoing. Note that the punishment would be meted out only if the offender fails to come clean.
Sinning is bad in itself, but refusing to make amends is even worse – it’s like challenging God’s authority. When we refuse to seek restoration with Him, we challenge God. Friends, no sin can escape God’s punishment; however, when we wash our clothes and bathe in the blood of the Lamb, we receive forgiveness and atonement for ourselves. Never hesitate to do so whenever it is needed.
